Driving lessons for
Orlando drivers

Orlando is Orange County's largest city, with about 333,888 residents in the Census Bureau's 2025 estimate. Our office is in Kissimmee at 3831 W Vine St, about 24 miles by road from downtown Orlando via Osceola Parkway, Florida's Turnpike and I-4, and we work with Orlando drivers who want lessons in English or Spanish.

Ready 4 Roads Driving School is on FLHSMV's list of commercial driving schools that provide behind-the-wheel training. Our lessons cover the maneuvers the state lists for the Class E driving skills test, and we explain how the Orange County process works so test day holds no surprises.

Road packages start at $149 for one two-hour lesson (Bronze) and go up to twenty lessons (Titanium, $2,749). Premium Plus ($175) and Premium Ultra ($255) include practice and the road test in our vehicle. Road packages include pick-up and drop-off: tell us your address when you book and we confirm it.

// ORLANDO DRIVER GUIDE

What Orlando drivers
should know

01Who can test at an Orange County office?
Orange County Tax Collector offices serve Orange County residents only, and road test appointments follow the same rule. Road tests are offered at five offices: Clarcona, Lee Vista and 417, Sand Lake, University and West Oaks Mall in Ocoee. The Downtown office on Rosalind Avenue handles other driver license services but not road tests. Appointments are booked through the road test page the Tax Collector runs with Orange Osceola Safety Institute, and cancelling with the Tax Collector does not cancel that booking, so cancel with both if your plans change.
02What happens at the vehicle check?
Before the drive, the examiner inspects the car. The Tax Collector lists what ends a test before it starts: a horn, mirror, seat belt, turn signal, brake light or tail light that does not work, steering or brake problems, unsafe tires, no working driver-side wiper or headlights, and cracked glass that blocks the view. You also need valid registration and proof of Florida PIP and property damage liability insurance, and applicants under 18 bring the signed certification of their supervised driving hours.
03Can I practice near the test site?
No. The Orange County Tax Collector says practicing on or near the road testing area during business hours is strictly prohibited, and no passengers may ride along during the exam. Since February 6, 2026, FLHSMV gives every knowledge and skills exam in English only, without interpreters. We build the skills on other roads instead: a quiet lot for parking and the three-point turn, then real traffic for signals, lane position and following distance.
04How busy are Orange County roads?
FLHSMV's 2024 crash report counts 25,415 crashes and 153 deaths in Orange County, and 2,834 drivers aged 15 to 19 were involved in crashes that year. Numbers like these are why we spend lesson time on scanning, following distance and highway merges, not only on parking maneuvers.
05Which license steps come before the road test?
Teens need a learner's license first: at least 15 years old, the 6-hour DETS course if they have never held a license, vision and hearing screening and the Class E knowledge exam. That exam is offered in English only, so Spanish-speaking students often study with both versions of the handbook. After holding the learner's license for 12 months, or turning 18, without moving violations, a 16- or 17-year-old can take the driving skills test.
