Haines City drivers test with Polk County, and the Lake Alfred Service Center, home to Polk's first enclosed driving range, is close by. We prepare you in English or Spanish.

At roughly 21 miles, mostly down US 17/92, Haines City is the longest drive we make. Pick-up still comes with every road package: give us your home details when booking, and driving begins in town, close to US 27 and Hinson Ave.
With pick-up about 21 miles from our office, booking your lessons as one package keeps things simple. Gold and Platinum are chosen most; for a Polk road test in our car, look at Diamond and up or the two Premium options.

“Exceptional service and even more incredible person! Words fail to describe how amazing my time and lessons with Emanuel were. He was extremely patient, kind and reassuring throughout the process!”
Seyi Adeniji · Google review“Easily passed my drivers test with a 100 and no errors. My instructor, Josy really taught me how to drive with only 3 lessons once each week that led up to the drivers test.”
jaywrld · Google review“As an older new driver I was very hesitant to get my license. Wilfredo was amazing to work with. He had amazing patience and very informative.”
Michele Muniz · Google reviewPolk's Lake Alfred Service Center has a Haines City mailing address and sits about 4.8 miles by road from the city, inside Lake Alfred limits. It holds Polk's first enclosed driving range.
These Polk County Tax Collector centers serve Polk residents only, by appointment. Lake Wales gives road tests as well; Davenport does not. Checked October 2026.
Roads named here are examples. Your instructor sets the pace from your skills, the time of day and any road work.
Haines City is in Polk County, so its road tests go through the Polk County Tax Collector. The nearest site is the Lake Alfred Service Center at the Northeast Government Center, 200 Government Center Blvd. It carries a Haines City mailing address, but the Census Geocoder places it inside Lake Alfred city limits, so it is near Haines City rather than in it: about 4.8 miles by road from the middle of town. In 2023 the Tax Collector described it as Polk's first enclosed driving range.
Full driver license services, road tests included, are also offered at the Lake Wales service center, and Bartow gives road tests too, though not written exams. The Davenport Service Center is the exception: it offers all services except road testing. Every transaction requires an appointment, and asked whether it serves out-of-county residents, Polk answers: not at this time.
Haines City is crossed by two heavily traveled U.S. highways. The Florida Department of Transportation's 2025 counts:
Polk's roads are not forgiving: the county recorded 12,755 crashes, 114 deaths and 10,104 injuries in 2024, according to the state's annual crash report. Numbers like these are why lessons here give real time to speed management, following distance and turns across fast traffic, not only to parking maneuvers.
US 27 and US 17/92 move faster than the neighborhood streets most learners start on, so the habits that matter most here are about speed and space.
Our dual-control car has a brake on the instructor's side, which makes the first sessions at these speeds far less stressful for a new driver and for the family waiting at home.
Spanish is the home language of 43.0% of Haines City residents age 5 and older, according to the Census Bureau's 2020-2024 American Community Survey. Lessons with us can run in Spanish, in English or in both, and the instructor switches whenever it helps, even in the middle of a turn.
The exam is a separate matter. Polk's teen page states that effective Friday, February 6, 2026, all driver license exams, road tests included, are given in English only, matching the statewide rule. There are no interpreters. The way through is to learn the concept in the language you think in and then practice the English version until it is automatic: road signs, lane terms and the short instructions an examiner gives, such as turn right at the next street or pull over and stop. We build that English vocabulary into each lesson, so test day at the Lake Alfred Service Center sounds familiar.
Road packages include pick-up at the student's address, and Haines City is the longest trip on our pages: about 21 miles by road from our office at 3831 W Vine St. The route runs briefly west on US 192, then Oren Brown Rd and Poinciana Blvd, and about 14.8 miles south on US 17/92 into town. Because of that distance, confirm your address and preferred times when you book, and we confirm the meeting point.
Lessons take place in our dual-control car, with a brake on the instructor's side, and can be taught in English, Spanish or both.
On test day, if your package includes our car (Diamond and up, Premium Plus or Premium Ultra), we pick you up and drive to the Polk office where you booked; for most of Haines City the nearest is the Lake Alfred Service Center, about 4.8 miles away. There is no drop-off after the road test, so arrange a ride home in advance.
A Haines City teen who has never been licensed starts with the 6-hour DETS course, then the 50-question knowledge exam, which applicants under 18 may take online while a parent monitors. The learner's license limits driving to daylight for three months, then until 10 p.m., always with a licensed driver 21 or older alongside, for 12 months or until 18, with 50 supervised hours, 10 at night.
For the road test, Polk adds its own paperwork: the teen-license checklist includes a Notice and Consent for Road Test Video/Audio Recording form, and the test is by appointment only. Practice matters here: in 2024, drivers aged 15 to 19 were involved in 1,663 crashes in Polk County.
Adults 18 or older with no previous license take the 4-hour TLSAE, then the knowledge exam in person. Those who already drive can use Premium Plus or Premium Ultra for a refresher before the test in our car.
Haines City was platted in 1885 under the name Clay Cut. It was renamed for railroad official Col. Henry Stevens Haines to secure a South Florida Railroad station, became a town in 1914 and a city in 1925. Growth has been rapid lately: from 26,669 residents in the 2020 Census to an estimated 45,973 in July 2025.
A population that grows that fast puts more cars and more new drivers on the same streets. Lake Eva Community Park, a 28.8-acre city park at 555 Ledwith Ave, shows what to watch for near public spaces: a boat ramp where vehicles tow trailers, a 240-foot fishing pier and 2 miles of concrete walking paths. Near the park, slow down, expect pedestrians crossing toward the paths and give trailers extra room when they back up or turn. These are everyday situations that a road test rewards you for handling calmly.
